FUD is continuing construction of the planned water main replacement project on George Williams Road within the eastbound lane. Beginning July 6, the road closure will be shifted from its current limits of Hidden Glen subdivision – Beecher Mayfield Road to new limits between The Woods at West Valley subdivision and Shelbyville Road. Residents of the Hidden Glen, West Arden, and Woods at West Valley subdivisions will access their homes from the Fox Road side of George Williams Road as the eastbound section remains closed. During the week of July 6, The Woods at West Valley residents should expect several days of single-lane traffic between the West Arden and The Woods at West Valley subdivisions from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
George Williams Rd from Zola Ln to Fox Rd will remain closed to through traffic until the start of the Knox County School year. The physical extents of closure will be modified to match the limits of active construction. Final roadway work, including trench paving, is expected to be completed before August 6 in advance of the start of the Knox County Schools academic year. Detour signage will be posted, and access to homes will be maintained throughout construction.
