First Utility District of Knox County (FUD) is working on design and construction of a water line replacement in the Tan Rara Oeste subdivision. FUD is replacing a 1975-era concrete water line as a scheduled life cycle replacement. The goal of the upgrade is to provide reliable service to the residents of the neighborhood, and to improve distribution to the eastern side of FUD’s service area. The existing line is approximately 50-years old, and we have experienced breaks with adverse effects to residents, public streets, and other utilities.
The project will include approximately 8,000-ft of water line replacements on Tan Rara Drive, Largo Vista Rd, Casa Real Cove, and El Pinar Drive. The new alignment will be a mixture of public right of way, platted utility & drainage easements, and several utility easements. The design locations are based upon working around existing utilities, maintaining service during construction, and our best effort to avoid trees and landscaping in the neighborhood. Fire protection will be maintained or improved as a result of the project. We anticipate this work to begin approximately in mid-April 2025 with completion by January 2026. The working hours will be restricted by Knox County Utility Right of Way Permit as Monday – Friday work, 7:30AM – 5:30PM.
FUD will be working with our Contractor and Knox County to be proactive in communicating intent, schedule, and impacts to residents in the area. We recognize this work is an inconvenience in your neighborhood, and we appreciate your patience during construction. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact FUD Customer Service (865-966-9741).
